Private versus Public
Understanding the difference between private and public is essential for your child’s personal safety as well as the safety of those around them. Doing something in public that is meant for a private space can signal to others that your child is not safe to be around. Additionally, if your child sees someone doing something in public that should be done in private, it is important they recognize that that person may have harmful intentions toward them or others. The social rule of private vs public is not flexible. It is important your child understands that breaking this rule could result in people like the police getting involved.
